I AGREE entirely with J G Heselwood’s letter (Knutsford Guardian, September 14) that “what we need is proper road resurfacing” not merely the filling in of potholes.

In addition all rural roads should be treated with tar and roadstone on a regular basis to keep the surfaces in good condition. It was only when this policy was discontinued several years ago that potholes started to appear.

It is not rocket science, merely good civil engineering and sound common sense.
