PUTTING aside Brexit and the recent changes that have taken place in the Cabinet, George Osborne is a first class local MP.

Following the recent letters revolving around how well in which George Osborne does/does not serve his local constituency, I wanted to share that my experience with Mr Osborne was thoroughly positive:.

I definitely did not feel “denied [my] constitutional rights to discuss matters of concern with [my] parliamentary representative”

as Alan Lowe suggested he felt in his letter last week.

At the start of the year I founded a new business focusing on apprenticeships and so contacted Mr Osborne to discuss some issues that I felt needed addressing within the Apprenticeship Levy.

The reply from his office was instant and within six weeks I had a 20 minute face to face meeting with Mr Osborne during one of his surgeries.

When I met him, he was fully aware of my new venture, prepped on my concerns and had some challenging yet insightful questions to put to me.

Given his role as chancellor, we must appreciate that he has had bigger issues to deal with than most other local MPs.

However, when we met I was impressed by the personal support he offered and the speed in which he took up my issues with Nick Boles and sought answers on my behalf.

As a constituent of Tatton I feel very lucky to have Mr Osborne as my local MP – his desire to listen to his constituents combined with his influence on a national scale is a formidable combination.
