KNUTSFORD FC’s home ground woes continue.

They had been hoping to play the first game at their Manchester Road ground since October 7 at the weekend, entertaining Styal Reserves.

Due to the weather, scheduled home games since that date had been switched to an artificial pitch at Moss Farm in Northwich or reversed to their opponents’ ground.

But again Saturday’s game had to be postponed, this time not only because of a frozen pitch but frozen pipes and a burst, too, meant there were no water facilities.

The players did manage to get a training session in.

Weather permitting, they will be away to Vulcan in Cheshire League One this Saturday, kick-off 2pm.

GOLF: A good day’s golf came about in round four of the Simister Cup at Alderley Edge, with the course in fantastic condition considering the hammering it has had over the past few weeks.

Winning for a second time in a row and pocketing £50 was Andrew Sutton with 23 points.

Next in was Second Anderson with 22 points, and third with 21 points on a card play-off was Jan Cichocki.

It is tight at the top of the Alderley Edge Winter League.

The captain and the professional Charles le Sueur took on former winners Ken Hall and Mike Harding.

Le Sueur showed his class as he managed to eagle the second and win the third with a par and they stayed up all the way to the end to take the win by 3.5-1.5.

It remains very tight at the top with the leading two teams dropping points.

This now means team Gosling, Anderson, Dibble, Johnson are top.
