KNUTSFORD FC’s fixtures have been thrown into chaos due to bad weather but they have made a move to hopefully get this weekend’s game played.

The club’s chiefs have switched their home clash with St Michaels in the J Walton League Cup to the Cheshire FA 3G pitch at Moss Farm in Northwich, due to the tendency for their Manchester Road home to become waterlogged during periods of heavy rain.

Saturday’s cup tie is scheduled to kick off at 2pm.

They did get to play at the weekend, their first match in three weeks being a Mid Cheshire District Cup group game away to Middlewich Reserves.

Reds drew 1-1 and will be disappointed not to have made more of their domination, despite the depleted numbers.

Knutsford were without six regulars, including their goalkeeper, and went into the contest with a very young bench.

But they controlled 95 per cent of the fixture, only to concede a goal in the 89th minute which cost them victory.

Knutsford were dominant in defence and midfield but lacked a number nine and their game broke down in the final third.

That said, they did hit the woodwork four times on a frustrating afternoon.

The first occasion was when Slamani went on a driving run and cut inside but hit the post on 23 minutes.

A Cavanagh free kick from 25 yards then hit the post before Brandon Blades went close twice, breaking free on the second occasion but then shooting over the bar.

Kelembeck also had several good runs down the right side during the first half, but Reds could not hit the target.

Slamani went close again early in the second period before a Sheldon effort hit the post.

Finally the deadlock was broken when a cross from Blades was diverted onto the far post where Mawdsley reacted first to fire home.

Woodward replaced Sheldon and went close moments later before Middlewich had their first half chance in the 72nd minute.

As the game closed, a Middlewich cross was diverted into the goal by Fregapane and there was nothing Ward could do about it.

Knutsford: Ward, Wilbraham, Mawdsley, Maunder, Fregapane, Sheldon (Woodward), Davies (Chatha), Cavanagh, Kelembeck (Giani), Blades (Wooley), Slamani (Gunter).
