KNUTSFORD’S narrow weekend win at home to Frodsham, by a single wicket, keeps them in contention to secure promotion to the Cheshire Alliance top flight.
They restricted the visitors to 127-8 at Mereheath Lane, where Mohammad Waqis (4-37) and Adeel Bhatti (3-31) were the pick of the home team’s attack.
However they were grateful for an eighth-wicket partnership, worth 63 runs, between Nadeel (29) and Adeel Bhatti (35no) that rescued an innings that was in deep trouble at 48-7.
Sam Wood’s five-wicket haul proved in vain for Knutsford’s seconds, who were frustrated by their Pott Shrigley counterparts during a draw in the East Division.
Chasing 148 to win, the hosts closed on 94-9.
Earlier, Samir Maluk (42) and Abin Abraham (30) were the leading scorers when the visitors posted 147-8 after winning the toss.
