YOUNG players at Egerton Football Club celebrated another successful season on the pitch during the club's annual Summer Fun Day.

And it was an afternoon to remember for the Knutsford outfit's under 10s, who were awarded the team of the year prize.

Nathan Lowe, from the same side, received the player of the year trophy.

The day concluded with a friendly on the 3G pitch at Mereheath Lane between a side picked by chairman Tom O'Donnell and a guest XI.

“It was a huge success and it was great to see so many people down at the ground to celebrate the end of another season," said Victoria Farrar, events organiser at Egerton.

Visitors from all parts of the community gathered together in the sun.

Guests included team members, children from primary schools in the town who take part in Knutsford School Sport Partnership activities and students from Knutsford Academy and Studio School where Egerton's recently-launched Academy programme is based.

Activities on offer included inflatables and fun rides, football sessions and games and traditional fair stalls.

More than 400 boys and girls, who play in Egerton's 35 youth teams, will report back for pre-season training at the end of next month.

The club offers a free initial training sessions for new players.
