ROB Jones' sensational start to the season continued on Saturday, when he scored a third successive ton for in-form Toft.

However it was not enough to record a victory against title-hopefuls Chester Boughton Hall in the county league's top flight.

The 20-year-old struck 13 fours and six maximums on his way to 165, then run himself out from the final ball of the innings with the visitors' total at 372.

Jones shared in century partnerships with Morgan Clark (64) and Sam Hatcher (69) before adding 70 runs for the fifth wicket with Andrew Jackson (40).

Chester responded solidly with 295-6, led by Rick Moore (100) and Warren Goodwin (70), as the teams set a Premier Division record for aggregate runs scored in a single fixture.

Jones returned figures of 2-79.

On Thursday, the Knutsford outfit made a winning start to their Joseph Holt Brewery T20 Cup campaign with a comfortable 100-run victory at Alvanley.

Jones (90no) again led the way as the visitors totalled 173-7.

They dismissed the hosts for 73, James Drummond taking four wickets.

Davenham comfortably beat Middlewich in the group's other fixture.

Toft's seconds lost a close encounter with their Chester counterparts at Booth's Park on Saturday, when the visitors succumbed for 139.

Chairman Nigel Muirhead, standing in as captain, claimed 5-38.

However the hosts struggled again at the crease, their final wicket falling five runs short with the score on 134.

It was a similar story on Sunday, when Toft's thirds lost by 37 runs to Didsbury.

A super spell from Isaac Wasilewski (2-12) and teasing spin from skipper Jim Bishop (2-19) saw five wickets fall for 19 runs, only for an eight-wicket stand worth 48 to boost the visitors' tally.

Will Dunkerley claimed 4-44.

Toft reached 60-1 win reply, led by Scott Craig (28), before losing seven wickets for 14 runs - including a passage of five at a cost of only two - to crash to 117 all out.
