OLIVER Webb stood on the podium again at the end of the latest round of the World Endurance Championship on Saturday.

The Knutsford ace and his ByKolles Racing Team co-drivers classified sixth overall following a six-hour race at Spa, in Belgium, third in the series' LMP1 class for privateer outfits.

However it proved a challenging weekend, with soaring temperatures and high downforce prompting their car's tyres to wear faster.

"I'm happy we managed to pull through and it's great to be on the podium," said Webb afterwards.

"But we're here to win races.

"We're planning some upgrades to the car before the next round at Le Mans, so we're hopeful of making some progress there."

Fellow Brit James Rossiter was behind the wheel for the first stint at the weekend, only for a 20-minute pit-stop - which cost ByKolles four laps - to slow progress.

Webb completed the middle section of the race, climbing back up the order, before Simon Trummer nursed the car to a second top-three finish in class in as many races.

"It's not been an easy couple of days," added Webb.

"The high track temperatures didn't help and, because we ran with pretty high downforce, we suffered from fairly severe tyre-wear issues before an overheating problem put us in the pits."

ByKolles sit third in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1's private teams.

The campaign resumes with the Le Mans 24-hour race in France next month.
