TOFT prepared for a trip to fellow title-hopefuls Chester Boughton Hall in style on Saturday, when their batsmen starred in a nine-wicket win against Bramhall.

Set a target of 235 to secure maximum points at Booth's Park, they reached it in less than two hours.

Australian opener Morgan Clark (112no) and Rob Jones (117no) shared in a unbroken partnership worth 222, striking the decisive runs in only the innings' 33rd over.

Between them, they hit 25 fours and five sixes.

Jones, a former England under 19s international, has now hit successive hundreds in the Cheshire County League's Premier Division this season without losing his wicket.

Bramhall had posted 234-5 after winning the toss, boosted by Lancashire starlet Danny Lamb (139no) and captain Nick Cantello (57) combining to add 146 runs for the second wicket.

Slow bowler Jimmy Lomas (2-65) was the pick of Toft's attack.

Before visiting Chester, Toft visit lower-ranked Alvanley tomorrow, Thursday, for their opening Joseph Holt Brewery T20 group-stage encounter, from 6pm.

Toft's seconds recorded a slender one-wicket win at Tattenhall, who they dismissed for 69 thanks to spin trio Nigel Muirhead (5-15), James Hodgson (3-36) and Eddie Bones (2-8).

Perhaps haunted by being bowled out for just 25 the previous week, the visitors lost wickets at regular intervals.

Experienced pair Richard Hardstaff (26) and Bones (20no) stayed calm to edge them over the line at 71-9.

On Sunday, Toft's thirds lost a close encounter with their Marple counterparts by 24 runs.

The visitors reached 154-6 after being put in, Muirhead (2-25) and Ian Ford (2-30) sharing the wickets.

Andy Hodgson (25), Jim Bishop (27) and Simon Howarth (28) scored the bulk of the Knutsford outfit's runs as they folded for 130.
