JIMMY Evans admits Knutsford have not been able to prepare the way they wanted for Saturday's Cheshire FA Amateur Cup quarter final.

Reds, due to host Stockport Georgians at Manchester Road, have played only once since November 21 because of the weather.

"We’ve done a bit of training, but it’s difficult to find an indoor space and we’ve not done as much as we would like,” said the chairman.

“We think - and hope - it’s the same for everybody because we've had a lot of matches called off.

“We have got a home draw, which is what we wanted, but whether the pitch will be fit is another thing.

"At the moment it’s soft and soggy; if the rain continues the surface will be no good.”

Scott Dignan's side did fit in a friendly with Cale Green, who have won the Cheshire FA Sunday Cup three times in the past five years, at the weekend.

Fit-again Ebbie Rezayan scored a hat-trick in a 7-2 win.

However James Pickford and Josh Wates will both be missing for the visit of the reigning Manchester League champions.

Evans said: "This is the biggest prize in amateur football - it's our European Cup.

"Everybody is fit, and that's all you can ask for. If we play to our level, we'll win.

"Tom Rutter has is playing up top with confidence since Liam Myers left [to sign for Barnton].

"We miss him; he epitomised everything about how we like to play."

Stockport arrive in town placed seventh in the league, and after despatching Cheadle reserves and Blacon Youth Club in this season's competition.

Knutsford have won three ties, all at home, scoring 19 times in total.

"We went to watch them last weekend - they're big, strong and well-organised," added Evans.

"We can expect a difficult game, but we've done our homework.

Kick off is 1.30pm.
