ADAM Jenkinson will complete the National Superstock 1000 Championship campaign on board a new bike.

The Knutsford ace switched to a BMW machine, prepared still by Northern Escalator Installations, for the series' most recent round at home circuit Oulton Park, crossing the line seventh.

He had previously ridden a Yamaha.

"It was difficult trying to practice, qualify and test at the same time," he said.

"But each time I went out on track I went faster.

"I like the BMW; it's different to what I've been used to this season, but my first impression is favourable."

The 31-year-old was 11th fastest during qualifying, leaving to start from the grid's fourth row.

However he made up four places on the opening lap, then climbed to sixth place after overtaking Joe Burns at Lodge.

The two swapped positions following a safety car period, holding station until the end of a 14-lap race.

Jenkinson said: "I felt strong, but after the restart I had a few issues changing down the gears.

"It was pushing me into the corner s bit, but those are teething issues that you can expect with a new bike.

"I'm happy though; it was a solid first outing.

"I was quicker [at Oulton] than when I raced there on the Yamaha in May, so I feel like we've made the right decision."

The season resumes at Silverstone next month.
