ORGANISERS of Northwich’s first Thai boxing night have attracted a host of national and international champions to showcase their sport.

Ric Barnhill announced an 11-fight card on Friday for next week’s SuperGym Fight Night, which forms part of the annual Northwich Festival at Moss Farm.

“I’m excited we’ve been asked to support the festival,” he said.

“We can guarantee an evening of high-calibre professional bouts in what will be a fantastic atmosphere.”

Leonie Hardman, who trains at Barnhill’s SuperGym Combat Sports Academy in Knutsford, takes on experienced Finn Heli Salapuro.

The teenager won a gold medal in her weight class at the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) World Championships in Russia three years ago.

Danny Jackson, from Northwich, is another SuperGym-trained fighter in action.

He takes on Jeet Steele (Stoke Thai) in the 58kg category.

Crewe-based Mike Bateman takes on Tony Olin, from Ireland, in a rematch after losing on a points-decision when the duo first met in Dublin.

Barnhill added: “We’ve managed to get fighters from the UK’s best gyms to take on some of our SuperGym members.

“It’s great they have a slot on Friday night to show what they can do.”

SuperGym Fight Night takes place in the Grand Marquee at Moss Farm next Friday.

Tickets are £25 each, with the first bout scheduled for 7.15pm.

The bar opens an hour earlier, and hot food will be on sale too.
