KNUTSFORD Tri Club’s Lucy Scott finished fourth in her age group last weekend at the ETU Triathlon European Championships in Geneva.

The Northwich-based teenager, representing Great Britain in the women’s 16-19 class, clocked 1:19.00 over a sprint distance to rank as second Brit to reach the finish.

Ewan Macrury made his international debut in the men’s 20-24 category, placing 36th in 1:20.31, while Ron Skilling (men’s 60-64) classified 21st in his section with a time of 1:30.42.

Fellow Knutsford Tri teammate Hamish Shaw (2:09:05) put behind him an injury-hampered year to place 24th in a standard-distance race in the men’s 25-29 class, finishing in 2:09.05.

Meanwhile Kate Mills completed the club’s contingent in Switzerland, clocking 1:27.56 in the women’s 35-39 sprint race.

More than a dozen athletes wore the club’s colours for a trip to Germany, where they tackled the Challenge Roth – consisting of a 3.8km swim in the Main-Donau Canal, continuing with a 18km bike ride before a 42km run – in Bavaria.

Pete Openshaw was the first Knutsford Tri member home in 10:09.10, while Damian Bennett (10:41.28) and James Nichols (10:48.47) also broke 11 hours.

They were followed by Jeff Fidler (11:14.06), Paul Salmon (11:34.04) and Steve Walsh (11:54.30), with

Lynda Percival (12:30.49) the first female to reach the finish.

Andrew Orme (12:32.17), Pete Price (12:32.26), Jo Molyneaux (13:27.18), Dan Pawson (13:42.50), Dave Gough (14:14.32) and Matthew Mollart (14:32.43) completed the list.
