On Saturday, the Premier Division leaders had to settle for a share of the spoils following a tie with Cheadle.

It means their lead at the table’s summit is reduced to 15 points.

After being put in, Toft’s hosts totalled 183 with Greg Dixon (81) leading the way.

Rob Jones took 4-67 for the visitors.

Toft toiled in their reply, relying on skipper Toby Drummond (44) and Jack Goode (38) – in a seventh-wicket partnership worth 64 runs – to give themselves a chance after slumping to 70-6.

Needing two to win off the final ball, tail-ender Jimmy Lomas (23) was run out going for a second to leave the scores level.

They host relegation-threatened Grappenhall this Saturday, from 12.30pm.

Toft’s seconds drew with their Cheadle counterparts at Booth’s Park, where they tallied 191-7 thanks to a half-century from Sam Hatcher (74) and 38 from opener David Blackburn.

The visitors resisted in reply to close on 151-8, with spinner Joe Stanley (6-47) – supported by Paul Ashley (2-7) – the outstanding performer in Toft’s attack.

Toft’s thirds enjoyed a fine four-run win at Stockport on Sunday, where they succumbed for 83 after losing the toss.

Doug Angus, with 22, was the leading scorer.

However the visitors then dismissed their opponents for 79 after Joe Regan (4-34), Nigel Muirhead (3-7) and Sam Pennington (3-19) combined decisively.
