ADAM Jenkinson has been forced to delay a return to racing to recover from an injury sustained in a crash while on track in May.
The Knutsford rider did not take part in the latest round of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship at Knockhill, confirming last Wednesday he needed more time for damaged vertebrae in his back to heal.
It also kept him out of Snetterton three weeks ago.
He hopes to be back on board Northern Escalator Installations’ Yamaha R1 for the next meeting at Brands Hatch later this month.
“I’m gutted to miss out, but it’s for the best,” he said.
The 31-year-old, from Bucklow Hill, fell from his bike at high speed while battling for the lead during a race at Donington Park.
His machine was later discovered to have suffered brake failure while travelling at more than 150mph.
Jenkinson has slipped to seventh in the riders’ standings.
