MERE Golf Resort has hosted a regional qualifier for the prestigious Open Championship for a seventh successive year.
Swede Jonas Carlson led the field with a two-under-par round of 69 at the Knutsford course.
Mark Young, from Clitheroe Golf Club, was one stroke adrift on a day when seven golfers progressed to the next stage.
Mere amateur Jonathan Beesley carded a round of 76 while Tim Maxwell, professional at nearby Knutsford, played 78 shots.
Mere was awarded a five-year contract in 2009 to host the qualifier, an arrangement extended twice by organisers Royal and Ancient.
