ABDUL Aqeel was again Mobberley’s outstanding performer as they recorded a third victory in their past four Cheshire County League matches on Saturday.

He returned figures of 7-47 during a remarkable spell to help dismiss hosts Bredbury St Mark’s for 98.

They had been set a target of 171 to win earlier in the day after openers Will Berisford-Ince (56) and Charlie Nield (48) shared in a partnership worth 98 runs for the first wicket.

It leaves promoted Mobberley fourth in the Division Two table.

In the Cheshire Alliance’s second tier, Knutsford’s search for a victory continues following an eight-wicket defeat away to Rylands.

The visitors were bowled out for 111 after winning the toss, leaving Alan Brady (41no) and Graeme Rowlands (42no) to take the hosts to their target.

There was at least cheer for Knutsford seconds, who beat their Westminster Park counterparts by four wickets.

Newcomer Rob Vaughan (45no) eased the home team to victory at 165-6.

He had taken three wickets, supporting Ashish Abraham (4-53), to dismiss the away team for 164.

In the Cheshire League Division Two, Ashley thrashed guests Lymm by 83 runs at Railway Field.

Harry Hatchell (47) and Waqas Mahmood (21) put on 65 runs for the sixth wicket to boost the hosts’ total to 133 all out.

Skipper Jake Cairns was their match-winner, taking 7-20 as the visitors were skittled for 50.

Chelford, after dismissing Haslington for 106, cruised to a nine-wicket win in the same section.

Over Peover have still to record a victory in Division Three, losing by two runs at home to Sandbach.

Jake Le Maitre (8-33) appeared to set them on course for a maiden win when he helped knock over the visitors for 105.

But only Jon Bodimeade (35) offered any resistance as Peover succumbed for 103.
