Bowdon 3rd 3 Knutsford 2

KNUTSFORD have suffered back-to-back league defeats for only the second time this season following Saturday’s slender loss at promotion-chasing Bowdon.

The visitors took the lead at South Downs Road after they were awarded a short corner that Dave Price duly converted with a drag flick to the keeper’s left.

The goal spurred on Bowdon though, and they replied with a flurry of attacks which the Black Knights’ back five initially contained.

The home team levelled when they were first to a rebound after stand-in goalkeeper Johnny Price had made a save.

Bowdon’s attacking pressure was relentless, prompting Price to make a string of saves – including one with his head.

Iain Lawrence spent time in the sin bin as punishment for a deliberate stop with the back of his stick before Knutsford fell behind after an attacker intercepted Ed Higg’s wayward pass.

It was 3-1 before the break, this time after a flowing move was concluded inside the D.

Knutsford responded positively after the interval with some fluent forward forays of their own with Dave Price, Mat Hodge and Tom Howard all getting involved.

They found a reply after being awarded a short corner for an illegal aerial ball, for which the guilty party was sent to the sin bin, converted by Simon Locke.

But no equalising goal was forthcoming, leaving Knutsford to plan a return to winning ways at Colwyn Bay this Saturday.
