RACING driver Oliver Webb, from Knutsford, makes his debut in the European Endurance Championship this weekend with the Signatech-Alpine team.

He will be in familiar surroundings too, with Silverstone playing host to the opening round.

Webb, along with Nelson Panciatici and Paul-Loup Chatin, will be at the wheel of a Nissan-powered Alpine A450 LM prototype machine that delivered the title to the French outfit last season.

He said: “I’m excited by this challenge, and can’t wait for the lights to go green so we can get the season started.

“The fact we’ll be at Silverstone, a circuit I have raced at several times in the past, makes it more special as the support British drivers get from the home crowd is always fantastic.”

Qualifying on Friday is followed by a four-hour endurance race on Saturday.
