THE countdown is on to the festive season.

Knutsford Christmas Market returns for a weekend of celebration.

More than 120 artisan traders will be offering a selection of local goods and gift ideas on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3.

A selection of street food, bars selling cocktails, beers, mulled wine and coffee will be available each day.

The Saturday market runs from 12 noon until 7pm on Princess Street.

The Santa parade starts at 5pm on King Street, featuring live brass music from City of Chester Brass Band and performances from Travelling Light Circus.

Santa will travel through the streets on his sleigh.

The lights will then be switched on in Canute Place by the mayor of Knutsford Cllr Peter Coan at 6pm.

Families can visit Santa in his grotto on Silk Mill Street from 12 noon until 4.30pm on Saturday and from 11am to 4pm on Sunday.

The grotto is kindly supported by the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) and Knutsford Hosts A suggested £3 donation per child will be donated to CAFT.

This charity, set in the Cheshire countryside, provides day visits and residential breaks, free of charge, to children whose lives are impacted by illness, disability and social disadvantage.

Live music will be performed on Princess Street on Sunday, December 3, from 12 noon until 4pm.

Get Back Band Buskers and Knutsford Beats will be raising money for various charities.
