KNUTSFORDIANS will be able to mark the Tour of Britain heading through the town next Tuesday by enjoying 'Cyclefest', which is taking place on the Heath.

Tatton Estate Management (TEM) and Event Buddha, who are managing the event in conjunction with Knutsford Town Council, are creating a unique opportunity to showcase businesses and entertain the anticipated 10,000 to 18,000 visitors to Knutsford on the day.

The Tour of Britain will be broadcast by the BBC and commercial channels and will be transmitted live to around 116.6 million viewers in 129 countries across the world through Eurosport and ITV4.

CycleFestKnutsford will be a free event where you will be able to watch the race on the big screen whilst also browsing the festival village organised by the well-known Makers Market run by Vicky Jackson.

“It’s heartening to see so many people wanting to be involved,” said Heather Clawson, of TEMevents.

“Bentley are an anchor exhibitor, showcasing their new Bentayga model, along with the prototype carbon fibre bike they are working on in collaboration with Nick Fountain of Starley Bikes in Altrincham.

Cllr James Power, Knutsford Town Councillor and chairman of the Tour of Britain sub committee, added: “We’ve been working with TEM Events and Event Buddha to create a free festival which will really showcase what Knutsford has to offer.

"This is a truly historic event and such a positive way of helping making this major international event relevant locally. The Tour of Britain is encouraging people to try something new and make full use and open spaces like The Heath, The Moor and Tatton Park."

Nicky Hutton, business development manager at Gusto on King Street, said: “We are all very excited to welcome The Tour of Britain here at Gusto and we want to celebrate the big day in Gusto style bringing a little bit of the luxury to CycleFestKnutsford with our Gusto Lounge."

Richard Milkins, visitor economy development manager for Cheshire East Council, added: “The CycleFestKnutsford will do a great job of extending the Tour of Britain to visitors who will enjoy coming to Knutsford for a fun day out for all the family.

"However, it is important to mention that anyone wishing to watch the end of the actual race will need to ensure they are in Tatton Park.”

Entertainment in Knutsford however does not stop at cycling and the event is swiftly followed by a weekend celebrating the town’s history then you may want to extend your stay to take in the Heritage open days taking place in the town from September 8 to 11.
