STARRY eyed students from Knutsford and Mobberley were among the crème de la crème of the King's School's GCSE successes as the Macclesfield school continues to go from strength to strength with another bumper set of results.

Duke of Edinburgh Silver and bronze award winner Saffron Rossi, 16, from Knutsford, who got two A*s, seven As and one B and Angus Homer, 16, from Mobberley, who got seven A*s and four As and wants to apply to either Oxford or Cambridge.

Evie O'Brien, 16, from Mottram St. Andrew got five A*s, five As and one B and wants to pursue a career in sport; fellow Duke of Edinburgh devotee Daisy Hammersley, 16, from Chelford, got two A*s, seven As and two Bs and wants to be a linguist; top musician Emma Gosnay, 16, from Wilmslow, got a stunning 10A*s and one A and wants to work in business while Anushka Lithgow, 16, from Alderley Edge, got five A*s, three As and two Bs and would like to work for the United Nations.

It was another bumper year at King's: around 60 per cent of all grades were A*/A, up from 57 per cent last year, and more than 85 per cent of grades were A* to B, up from 83 per cent last year.

11 pupils achieved nine A*s or better; five students achieved an amazing 11 A*s; 84 students achieved an A* in at least one subject with a quarter of all grades at the school at the top A* grade.

King's School Headmaster Dr Simon Hyde said: “We are delighted with King's academic results but take just as much pleasure from our young people's fabulous success outside the classroom.
