A CHELFORD water sports park has been approved by the narrowest of margins despite being rejected at a previous council meeting.
Plans to build a wakeboarding and outdoor activity centre at the former Mere Farm Quarry off Chelford Road split councillors at a Cheshire East Council strategic planning board meeting on Wednesday, August 24 when the proposals were heard for the second time due to an administrative error by the council at a previous meeting.
The application, which will offer wakeboarding classes, kayaking, outdoor swimming and standing paddleboarding facilities as well as a café and free on-site parking, split councillors- five of whom voted to reject the application and five who voted to approve.
Cllr Harold Davenport, chairman of the strategic planning board committee, took the casting vote to approve the plans.
