MEMBERS of a Longridge charity community group are ‘delighted’ to have been given a defibrillator thanks to The Rotary Club of Knutsford.

The lifesaving AED has been installed at The Welcome Café, in Longridge, an area where there has previously been no equipment of its kind. The charity helps to organise events within the community to provide opportunities for its residents.

Marie Fox, operations manager at The Welcome, told the Guardian that the charity has built up a strong relationship with the Rotary after members requested a meeting with them to find out more about what they do for the Longridge and Shaw Heath communities.

“The Rotary has been very very good to us,” said Marie. “They really liked what we did and wanted to get involved in helping us.

“We have also been working with the First Responders in Knutsford. All the staff have had training on the defibrillator because we didn’t want them to be scared of how to use it. We wanted to make sure that they are all familiar with it.”

Carol Robertson, the community specialist paramedic for Knutsford, taught the staff what to do in case they need to use the defibrillator, and she has also organised for the group to have full first aid training.
