THE Guardian took a trip to the Foodies Festival at Tatton Park on Sunday to see two of the county's top chefs strutting their stuff.

The festival, in its third year at Tatton Park, has been a sure fire success since it first rocked up in Cheshire in 2014.

A national festival, that started in Edinburgh in 2005, this year the festival brought more than 100 artisan producers to the park, as well as food stalls, a drink theatre and cooking demonstrations from some of the best chefs in the country.

The Guardian headed to the event on Sunday, which was easily the best day weather wise. Past year's have seen torrential downpours with festival goers wading through mud while trying to taste some of the freebies on offer, while traders have taken a real hit to their profit margins with stock left over.

The site is tucked away slightly - to be expected with the RHS show setting up on the other side of the mansion - but it was easy to get to when we rocked up just before 11am.

Two Cheshire chefs, Dave Mooney from New Moon Pub Company fame, and Aiden Byrne from the Church Green in Lymm, both appeared on Sunday, demonstrating their skills to the crowds.

Tatton Brewery head honcho Gregg Sawyer was also in attendance, where he took guests through his company's range of Knutsford-made ales. The tent was packed – with many obviously not put off by the 11am start time for Gregg's session.

There was a great vibe to the event on Sunday - boosted by the weather no doubt - and it seemed like a real family day out for many, with children getting to enjoy some of the goods available.

Ticket prices are reasonable at £14 each - and if you follow the festival's social media channels then two for one tickets are always available. Barring any change of minds from those in charge of Tatton it looks highly likely that the festival will return in 2017.
