KNUTSFORD Scouts has received a £4,500 boost following fundraising efforts from the Rotary Club and the town’s residents and businesses.

The 1st Knutsford Scouts, who are currently raising money for a new headquarters, is thanking the Rotary Club of Knutsford for organising the annual jog as well as members of the community and Prime Medica, Sheldon’s Dairy and UPA who sponsored the event back in March.

More than £3500 will go towards the new building, with the remainder being split between Knutsford Scouts groups.

Rob Allen, group Scout leader of Knutsford Scouts, said: "It is always lovely to work so closely with the Rotary Club of Knutsford, they do so much for us and we are very grateful for their generous support.”

Martin Relton, Knutsford Scouts District Commissioner, added: “The jog has taken place every year for the past 15 years around the Moor where the new Scout HQ for 1st Knutsford Scouts is planned to be built. Many hours go into organising this event and particular thanks to Mark Jones, President of Knutsford Rotary Club and his team for their ongoing support.

“We would like to thank the Rotary Club for choosing Knutsford Scouts as their charity and their support for this important project which will provide a much needed and lasting facility for the young people of our community.

“The new building project is progressing well with planning consent in place and around £70,000 raised so far. The contribution from the Rotary jog will provide another big step forward towards meeting the estimated project cost of £180,000.”

Knutsford Rotary Club welcomes members of the community getting in touch with their local charitable causes and has raised over £100k to date to help individuals and groups within the town.

Participants in the Knutsford Jog are invited to choose their own charity and local schools PTAs are invited to get in touch.
