KNUTSFORD will be hosting its own Cycle Fest to coincide with the Tour of Britain coming to town on Tuesday, September 6.

Tatton Estate Management (TEM) and Event Buddha, who are managing the event in conjunction with Knutsford Town Council, are creating a unique opportunity to showcase businesses and entertain the anticipated 10,000 to 18,000 visitors to Knutsford on the day.

The Tour of Britain will be broadcast by the BBC and commercial channels and will be transmitted live to around 116.6 million viewers in 129 countries across the world through Eurosport and ITV4.

TEM’s Managing Director, Henry Books, said: “The popularity of this event is a massive opportunity for the businesses of Knutsford to engage the thousands of visitors.

“Cycle Fest is designed as a free 'pop-up festival’ for everyone to fully enjoy the Tour of Britain and also experience a flavour of just what Knutsford has to offer including numerous activities across the town.

“To help manage so many visitors we will be opening up over 1,000 temporary car parking spaces in and around the town, along with a secure cycle park, which will ease congestion and help residents, businesses and visitors.”

Rupert Wakefield, from Event Buddha, added: "We're used to working on delivering large scale events such as Geronimo Festival at Tatton Park, The Royal International Air Tattoo and even Parklife Festival in Manchester, but being given the opportunity to work on an event aimed at community and business engagement in my home town is hugely exciting and a bit of an honour.

"The team at Event Buddha are already looking forward to delivering a safe and hugely popular event for the Knutsford.”

Cllr James Power, from Knutsford Town Council and chairman of the Tour of Britain sub committee, added: "This is a truly historic event and such a positive way of engaging with the local community. I am delighted that we have such a great opportunity to promote the town and create a lasting legacy.”
