DESPITE being in the middle of her GCSE exams, one Knutsford teenager is preparing to have the biggest - and most drastic - haircut of her life.

Fifteen-year-old Martha Dawson, who is in year 11 at St Nicholas Catholic High School in Hartford, will be going for the chop at the end of this month and having her waist-length hair cut into a bob.

The youngster, who has been growing her for the past six years and usually only has a trim once every 12 months, will be donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other hair loss conditions such as alopecia.

Martha, of Manchester Road in Knutsford, said: "Ever since Jessie J shaved her head a few years ago it's been a life goal of mine to have my hair cut and donate it to charity.

"I've been growing my hair since I was in year five, when I had my hair in a bob, and I've never really wanted to have it trimmed.

"Having it cut and donating it to The Little Princess Trust will be a fresh start for me - a new look and a new outlook and I'm looking forward to it."

Martha's haircut, which will be taking place on Saturday, May 28 - the day after her year 11 prom - comes hot on the heels of One Direction singer Harry Styles, who donated his famous long locks to the Trust earlier this month, with a photo of his ponytail receiving 1,000,000 likes on Twitter within five hours.

Martha, who is a talented singer and has her own youtube channel, is still looking for a hairdresser to help with the chop.
