TABLEY Tearoom is now serving up fizz after being granted a license to sell alcohol and play music seven days a week.

The café, which sits inside the Old Hall Room of Grade I listed Tabley House on Chester Road has been given permission from Cheshire East Council to serve alcohol during its opening times, which are currently Thursday to Sunday from midday to 5pm.

Debbie Townsend, owner of Victoriana Tearoom on King Street in Knutsford, took over at the end of March 24.

“I’m really pleased,” she said. “It means that we can promote the tearoom more. It gives us the opportunity for more diversity to do bigger and better things.

“We can now do private functions, birthday parties, weddings with afternoon tea and a glass of fizz. It just gives us the opportunity to offer people a drink if they want one.

“We are working in partnership with the Tabley House Collection to increase footfall and awareness of Tabley House and the tearoom.”

The license was granted on Thursday, May 12 at a Cheshire East Council licensing sub-committee meeting.
