CHILDREN at a Holmes Chapel Primary School were visited by Fiona Bruce MP to learn more about democracy.

On Friday, January 29, Mrs Bruce met with Year Six children for a ‘Question Time’ style session. The children asked a range of questions from how and why she chose to become and MP to her thoughts on evolution and technology.

Mrs Bruce was welcomed by the teachers and given a tour around the school from the head boy, Jonah Walding and head girl, Charlotte Moyle, who are both also in Year Six.

Mrs Bruce said: "I enjoyed visiting Hermitage Primary which is clearly a very happy school, and was particularly impressed with the questions asked by the Year 6 pupils and the mature interest they showed in how democracy works in this country."

Elizabeth Whittingham, Year Six teacher who organised the visit, added: “The children gained a valuable insight into the role of an MP and how democracy works within the context of our British Values curriculum. Mrs Bruce was impressed by all the polite, happy and thoughtful children at Hermitage Primary School.”
