CROWDS gathered at The Crown in Goostrey over the Bank Holiday weekend to enjoy the pub’s annual beer festival.

Locals at the family establishment were treated to an open-air festival of quality ale, cider and plenty of entertainment which took place from August 28 to 31.

The event featured regional products as well as musical talent from across the area.

Despite the typical British Bank Holiday weather, there was a generous turnout of people who had braved the rain to sample a range of 28 ales from 23 different breweries.

Operations Manager at 16 Hospitality, Matthew Parker, said: “We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the weekend and made it the success that it was.

“Not only were we well supported by our regulars, we were also very pleased to see some new faces amongst the crowd.

“It’s important to us to host events like this for both residents of Goostrey as well as further afield as it creates a real vibrancy to the community.

“We pride ourselves in championing local cask ales and offering a range of quality local products to our customers and the beer festival is designed to do just that.”

Entertainment came in the form of local band Slingback, who performed well-known tunes to a lively crowd and solo artist David Samuel Jones, the multi-talented breakfast chef at The Crown’s sister pub, The Swan in Tarporley, who entertained guests with an upbeat acoustic set as well as taking various song requests.
