FOLLOWING the award of a £50,000 grant from Sport England, to enable Knutsford Tennis Club to improve their facilities, George Osborne paid a visit to the holiday tennis camp being held there this month.

Work has just started on refurbishing the middle three courts and George was able to see for himself the essential work repairing and resurfacing three of the seven floodlit courts at the club.

George, who was also able to watch a coaching session with local youngsters, said: “With £50 000 awarded by Sport England to Knutsford Tennis Club, improved facilities will allow the club to continue its important work in our community, encouraging as many local residents as possible to participate. It is great that local youngsters are able to take part in tennis coaching there during the school holidays. There could be Cheshire’s answer to Andy Murray in our midst!”
