A HOLMES Chapel school has been awarded one of the top marks in the country in a recent OSFTED inspection.

Holmes Chapel Primary School, on Middlewich Road, has been graded ‘outstanding’ in all areas of its work despite new stricter inspection guidelines.

It is expected that fewer than five per cent of the country’s schools will achieve an outstanding judgment under the new rigorous framework.

Inspectors praised the ‘high quality teaching’ of all year groups and the school’s ‘very positive and caring ethos’.

The children also received commendation for their ‘excellent attitudes to learning’ and outstanding behaviour in lessons.

Helen Scott, headteacher of Holmes Chapel Primary School, was described by OFSTED officials as ‘an inspirational leader’ who has made significant improvements to the school.

She said: ““We are very pleased. The success of our school is down to the hard work and commitment of the entire school community.

“We have a highly dedicated staff team, wonderful children, a committed governing body and a very supportive parent body.

“Every single person has played a part in this success and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us to achieve such high praise. I am so proud to be this school’s head teacher.”

The school celebrated its success in a special assembly following the inspection.
