A KNUTSFORD brewery is using some of the finest honey in the country for its latest brew thanks to a Cheshire beekeeper.

Gregg Sawyer, from Tatton Brewery has teamed up with Mick Peirson from 'Bees for Us' with Mick providing the honey that goes in the brewery's gold medal winning ale Lazy Ale.

The team from Tatton Brewery recently visited Mick for a tour of the apiary.

Mick has been keeping bees since 1975 when he was a 15-year-old boy and now keeps about 200 hives throughout Cheshire and Staffordshire,

Gregg said: "We're proud of our local roots, and beekeeper Mick Peirsons' Cheshire honey is a key ingredient in our much-anticipated summer seasonal, gold medal winner Lazy Haze, which we are now brewing for cask in pubs across Cheshire this summer.

"We also recently brewed Lazy Haze for bottle; due to its continuing popularity, this year we decided to make it available in bottle all year round, so those bees will be extra busy on your behalf."

Mick's Cheshire honey is also used to great effect in the Tatton Brewery 5th anniversary ale, Vipa. The celebration beer is a big, bold, British-hopped pale ale at 6.3% abv, and will be available in cask, keg and bottle this June.
