CHESHIRE East Local Access Forum, the body tasked with encouraging access to the countryside, wants to hear from other groups throughout the county which are concerned about safety on rural roads.

The Forum is drafting a rural road safety strategy to highlight the dangers faced by non-motorised users such as cyclists, horse riders and walkers.

Linda Rose, a member of the Forum’s rural road safety sub-group, said: “We want to identify particular hotspots and hope eventually to campaign to promote safer driving and consider the desirability of lower speed limits.

"We are now seeking input from other groups with similar concerns so we can formulate a policy for the whole of Cheshire East.

"We are asking those who wish to contribute to contact the Forum by email at laf@cheshireeast.gov.uk and all are welcome to attend the next full meeting of the Forum at Macclesfield Town Hall on December 4.”
